This Indonesian coffee truly captures the heart and essence of Papua New Guinea. It is cultivated and harvested alongside the Wahgi River in the rugged mountains of Papua New Guinea. At elevations that exceed 4,000 feet, this area is also home to the Albizia trees (Siris or silk plant), which was named after an Italian nobleman named Filippo degli Albizzi.
In the mid 18th century Filippo introduced the Siris tree to Europe. It was later transplanted over several Indonesian islands, including Papua New Guinea, due to the higher elevations and increased moisture. Since these Albizia trees are grown up river from where these beans are harvested it allows these coffee beans to capture the silk trees fruity and floral-like essences to bring you a truly unique flavor.
